Last Orders Call for National Catering Awards - Scotland Food and ...

Scotland?s caterers, restaurants, pubs, colleges and training organisations are being urged to get their entries in for this year?s Catering in Scotland (CIS) Excellence Awards before 15 March.

The Awards are the main competition combining Scotland?s catering, hospitality and tourism industries. They will be presented at a gala dinner at Glasgow?s Hilton Hotel on 23 May hosted by BBC Scotland radio talk show presenter Kaye Adams.?Submissions are invited from chefs, restaurants, hotels, gastro pubs, food manufacturers, caterers, colleges, training companies and local authorities.?

According to recent figures from the Scottish Tourism Alliance, hospitality and tourism contribute ?11bn to the Scottish economy, employing over 220,000 people in around 20,000 businesses.?

The Awards Advisory Board includes Stephen Carter, Chairman of De Vere Cameron House; Andrew Fairlie of the eponymous two Michelin-starred restaurant at Gleneagles; and James Thomson, owner of Edinburgh?s Prestonfield Hotel and Witchery restaurant.?

Last year?s winners included Brian Maule of Glasgow?s Chardon d?Or as Chef of the Year, Edinburgh?s 21212 as Restaurant of the Year, Craig Millar?s 63 West End at St Monan?s, Fife as Restaurant Newcomer; and the Summer Isles at Achiltibuie near Ullapool as Independent Hotel of the Year.?

A new award category for Business Innovation has been introduced this year.
